The cameras are connected wirelessly to your home internet router, which means you can view the video on any device that is capable of displaying moving images, such as your desktop PC, laptop, tablet or even your smartphone. That’s all well and good when you’re at home and connected to your home network, but what about when you’re out and about, and especially when you’re on holiday and could be located on the other side of the world?
What you can do on such occasions is set up your home network so that certain areas of it are available on the internet. Don’t worry – this doesn’t mean just anyone can go hunting around the web and view your home! Your internet router will have a unique code consisting of four numbers – such as 95.194.215.62. This is like the address of your home, only it’s the public address of your internet router. You can now view your CCTV images from anywhere where you can get an internet connection
As you have the password and you’ve told your ip router that you want the images from your CCTV cameras sent out over the internet, you will be able to download an app to your smartphone, tablet or laptop that will allow you to connect and view the images wherever you may be. You can keep an eye on what is happening at home and alert the necessary people if you need to.
You can also check if the people who are supposed to be looking after your pets are doing as they said they would, and if the teenager you left at home is currently throwing a party!
